During the quality control of the manufacturing order you compare the conformity criteria that are specified on the manufacturing order with the actual values of the finished product. If the actual values do not conform to the specified criteria the product will be reported as non-conforming.
Note: This reporting routine can only be used if the MQC_REC (Manufacturing quality control at reception) and/or MQC_OPER (Manufacturing quality control at operation reporting) functions are activated in the Function control file.
What this document describes:
Defining conformity criteria
Conformity criteria are used in the quality control of manufacturing orders. When manufacturing orders are created, the conformity criteria will be copied to the manufacturing order operation and printed on the operation cards as informational text.
Item conformity group and criteria set-up
Conformity groups are defined in the Item conformity group table and conformity criteria in the Item conformity criteria table. You must define per conformity group which of the existing criteria should be activated. The conformity group is then connected to an item in the Item file.
The set-up of the conformity criteria affects what values can be used in the quality control reporting:
| Possible QC reporting values | Conformity criteria set-up | Conforming/Non-conforming |
|---|---|---|
| Only pre-defined criteria values | Values are defined for the criterion + the Only def values field is set to YES. | The Conforming field in the Item conformity criteria table denotes if the pre-defined criteria values are conforming or non-conforming. |
| Pre-defined criteria values + additional values
(New lines with additional reporting values can be inserted.) |
Values are defined for the criterion + the Only def values field is set to NO. | The Conforming field in the Item conformity criteria table denotes if the pre-defined criteria values are conforming or non-conforming.
Additional reporting values that do not exist in the Item conformity criteria table will be regarded as non-conforming. |
| Range of values | Range of values is specified for the criterion. | Reported values inside the specified range will be regarded as conforming.
Reported values outside of the range will be regarded as non-conforming. |
Conformity criteria selection
When the conformity criteria and groups have been set up, the conformity group must be connected to an item in the Item file. When this is done, all conformity criteria that belong to the conformity group will be available in the quality control reporting. If you do not wish to use all these criteria, you can specify certain criteria to be used. This can be done either in the item structure or in the manufacturing bill of routing according to the following:
- Item structure: You can connect conformity criteria from the conformity group either to the item structure header (used at manufacturing order reception reporting) or to the bill of routing (used at manufacturing order operation reporting). The criteria that you select for the item structure will be available in the QC reporting. See Define conformity criteria for an item structure for more information.
- Manufacturing order BOR: You can further configure the QC reporting by deselecting criteria from the bill of routing that is connected to the manufacturing order.
Accessing the QC reporting
Quality control can be reported from the manufacturing order detail planning, from the operation reporting or from the reception routine. The quality control reporting panel is most often accessed automatically by defined QC triggers (see below), but it can also be accessed on your own request from the manufacturing order detail planning routine. From that routine you can report quality control values for a specific operation.
QC triggers
In the operation reporting and reception routines, the quality control reporting is accessed when the reporting conditions that are defined in the item structure are met. The item structure defines if the quality control reporting should always be accessed at operation reporting or reception, or if it should be triggered by one of the following conditions:
- number of days since last QC reporting
- number of reported hours since last QC reporting
- number of reported operations or manufacturing orders since last QC reporting
- quantity of reported or received stock since last QC reporting
See Define quality control values for an item structure for more information about how to set up the triggers.
Note: The quality control reporting is also accessed if you report NCC quantities in the reception routine.
Forcing QC
It is possible to bypass the conditions that are specified in the item structure and force a quality control reporting to be performed for a manufacturing order. This is defined by the Force QC at rec field on the manufacturing order header, or by the Force QC at oper rep field on the manufacturing order operation. If these fields are set to YES, a quality control reporting will be mandatory for the order/operation, even if specific reporting intervals have been defined on the item structure. Force QC will also be set to YES if the item structure has been defined with the trigger QC always for the manufacturing order header or operation.
Enquiries and printouts
- Quality control history enquiry
- Item conformity group enquiry
- Quality control reporting report
This can be printed for a selected item. It displays information about the reporting date, the conformity criteria values that are connected to the item, and reported quantities. This report can be used as an aid when you are controlling items in stock and during the actual reporting.
